（1）硅钡钙合金是钡系合金中高效新型复合合金，是炼钢的脱氧剂、脱硫剂、还兼有脱磷的作用；是铸造中的孕育剂和变质剂。
（2）钡在炼钢温度范围内有效地降低钙的蒸气压，增加钙在钢液中的溶解度。同硅钙合金相比，用硅钡钙合金作为钙源加入钢液中，加入的钙量即使是硅钙合金加 入量的一半时，钢液中的钙含量却是硅钙合金的两倍左右，钙在钢液中也显著提高。充分显示钡在钢液中有效地保护了钙，降低了钙的氧化，从而达到了对钢液钙处 理的目的.
